Exactly. If I find some time I'm going to take EVERYTHING that Obama and his close companions have said in their love for socialism/Marxism and even communism (on the part of people he associates with) to paint the picture once and for all of what Obama really stands for, what that means to every American citizen of this country, and how the things he wants to do have been proven to be completely ineffective and detrimental to countries/societies in the past. If I can't take what I know and at least put in a way everyone should be able to understand, whether they want to hear it or not, then I have failed in by resolve to be informed about what matters in the times we live in and do something with that knowledge.

Exactly. Say goodbye to Federalism, Balance of Powers, and restricting the capacity of government to deprive individuals of their rights...say hello to the Judicial Branch legislating from the bench.

I took the time to read much of that, including all of the bolded parts, and it certainly isn't the kind of thing that you've been implying with all of your cries of "socialism". He uses those words ("r.o.w." ) , but most of the time he is simply stating that the court system does not have the power to redistribute wealth, and that this represents conflicts if, say, a school district affected by a court ordered bussing, required extra funds to deal with such a change in status quo etc. He was saying that a court walks a fine line in ordering something done that would require more than a change in policy, but also require a change in expenditure. I didn't see him say anywhere in there that he planned on changing those implied or explicit restrictions, although he very well might change some things somewhere in the system. It's been pointed out several times during the debates that Bush would pass a bill on something, but then fail to provide much funding for that very thing.

When Obama was elected President of the Harvard Law Review ( also a competitive election ) he was then expected by his black liberal colleagues to place a lot of them in new positions under him, but he actually appointed a lot of ( mostly white ) guys who were Federalists, just because he thought they were the smartest.

What I heard recently about this "constitution" charge is that Rush Limbaugh characteristically left out the part where his comments applied to changes in the constitution that allowed blacks to vote, and for their vote to count as a full vote; versus the way they were tabulated in the past ( fractionally ). Limbaugh just left in the part about the "change" to the constitution.

When he talked about an "economic philosophy that failed" I don't recall him saying that he referred to the entirety of capitalism itself, but to the "trickle down" idea which has been described as saying that the more cuts and privileges given to tycoons, the better it will be for middle and lower classes. Someday. Eventually. If the tycoons are in a good mood that day, etc.

So you're saying that we should never point out contradictions in systems we are affected by, due to there never being a perfect attainment of those system goals ? I disagree.

I will not post "done" as a "conclusion" however, as I see we may both have further comments on these matters.

    Interesting. Never knew that.

Obama really does sound like the right kind of guy we need.

The duties and expectations of the President of the United States and the President of Harvard Law Review are quite different. A better standard to judge would be his stated judicial philosophy and his votes regarding Judicial nominations in the Senate.

Promoting smart people to the top, thats a very good philosophy for a president, leader etc... in general corporate politics ruins our country in terms of achieving great things.

That would be a very good thing for the US hegemony. Philosophy of nation building is more appropriate in this case IMO. one smart person can feed thousands.

He is not going to prioritize technocratic competence over adherence to his ideological agenda...particularly not without the threat of a Republican filibuster in the Senate.

Yeah this is about the most alarmist spin on those words I've ever seen spun. You folks are getting desperate. Kuranes said most of what I wanted to. The sad part is that even taken in the most alarmist way, it's still not as bad as the current administration boldly going where no man has gone before.

Please tell me after all this ranting that you also ranted about Bush and his court-dodging wire-tapping? CIA taking people to Saudi where torture restrictions are relaxed?

I would love if he were to actually do that. Most politicians can't bring themselves to do it.
