He, unlike the Founding Fathers, seems to believe the Constitution is an obstacle in the path of whatever direction he would like to see the country go. Listen to the video.

Was hoping you'd textually harrass me with it, as I have no audio at work (assuming I want to continue said work). Also I'm bound to hear it in a different light than you have, considering that's happened almost across the board on this topic.

I see nothing in here thus far that isn't morally identical to Bush trying to ammend the thing to prohibit gay marriage. Leaving work now but thanks for the link, I'll dive in a bit deeper later tonight or tomorrow.

Eh, but I'm pretty sure that you didn't approve of Bush amending the constitution then, either. Jack's not going to take that.

I thought it was apropos considering how the Republicans often appeal to the fringe types who do wish to mix church and state. "Live by the sword..." etc.

Actually, I didn't make the argument that my being unafraid meant you shouldn't be. I could try, but it would require me to make some assumptions about you. Not all of those assumptions may be true. You see, If you were ridiculously rich, I'd understand why you'd be worried by wealth redistribution, but I'd still think you were wrong.

Anyhow, I wasn't talking about that. I was talking about your inability to distinguish socialism from communism, or to even distinguish socialism from what is effectively corporate capitalism with a dab of extra social spending. I am not a communist. Obama isn't a socialist.

Kerry never had it this good. Considering the amount of time McCain has left to change the map, things are looking very bad for him.

Who is the fringe nowadays? Evangelicals are closer to the mainstream in America than are atheists, and they say about 35% of the population is politically conservative. By definition, every corner of the spectrum has a fringe, right?

This is why we have state governments, and propositions like prop 8 in California where citizens can vote on the issue that would further define marriage without a constitutional amendment. That is the constitutional process.
