    They don't. It's just ironic.

Ironic only if someone who wanted to lick McCain's sack said it.
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

Is anyone else surprised at how big a deal this Powell endorsement is? Getting lots of play.

The saddest moment for McCain yesterday was when he was trying to list all his endorsements in response. "Hey guys, people like me too!".

It doesn't seem to be that big of a deal. It was covered a lot yesterday, but not one person I saw today even mentioned it. Powell is another Washingtonian about whom the press makes a much bigger deal than does the American public.

What's with you and this whole obsession with nutsacks and politics ?
"The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them that they are being attacked and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

It's all I saw on TV media yesterday, I haven't watched any news today. But it's still on the on the front-page on lots of internet news sites, but now they are talking more about endorsements in general.

The press likes Powell, but most people, on both sides, receive him well also or at least respect him. Goddamn, Powell has good timing.

I don't think the endorsement matters much for the voting bases of either party. I don't care for Powell much, but the press sure does. He seems like a nice enough man.

Florida has a large military population, if Powell can even have a minimal effect there, it could be a big deal because it's a dead heat there as far as I know.

But yeah, other than helping Obama's momentum, it probably won't do much.
