Congress provided partial funding for the program in a little-debated $634 billion spending measure that will fund the government until early March. For the past year, the Bush administration had been fighting Democratic lawmakers over the spy program, known as the National Applications Office...(more at link)"

    They claim they won't eavesdrop....geezus.

I guess satellite imagery is bound to become more of a mainstay in the surveillance world. I just hope their program won't be ridiculously extensive. Like spying on anti-war Mommy protest groups..

LOL. No comment on this one. Too many Big Brother conspiracies.

If you are freaked out by this, never live in London...

    I know the story.

I'd much rather live under remote satellite surveillance than camera surveillance by the local PD.

Can we attach a doomsday laser to these satellites yet and have terrorist-harboring and terrorist-supporting nations mysteriously disappear yet?

It's shit like this that turns suspicious people into conspiracy nuts. When something this crazy is actually true, people will believe any crazy story. We all might as well get the RFID chips in our heads at this point.

"It's just a god damned piece of paper".
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

It will be the conspriacy theorist only who don't get the chips. Everyone else will too afraid of being labeled a "conspriacy theorist" if they refuse to believe that the chips are 100 percent safe and privacy guarenteed.
