Our attempts to save the economy only worsen and prolong the suffering. The problem is a misallocation of resources. The resources were misallocated due to market distortions. The economy will recover as those resources are more appropriately allocated. The problem with the bailout is that it doesn't encourage proper allocation. It actually does just the opposite.

There is no way out of this situation without enduring some pain, economically speaking. The question is, do we take our medicine now and move on, or do we try to continue to avoid the inevitable?

The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

Knew that was coming. One of the most stable banks, and yet they have still fallen in need of a bailout. That has far reaching implications.

It is also my sincerest hope that HSBC crumbles into oblivion and that we do not bail their sadistic asses out. Yes, I have a long history with them, and I do not think they deserve to be bailed out if they should ever need it in the future.
