You don't need a damn good reason. You don't need any reason for a CCW. You need to pay the fee, take the course and pass the backround check. You don't need anything at all in open carry states and most of those people are not "victims". The law allows it, so they do it.

It's probably going to be difficult to get an accurate figure since it was quite common for guns to be family heirlooms passed down from generation to generation. Would have been pretty common for most frontier families to have at least one in the home for a lot of obvious reasons. Defense was one, although I think in those days it was probably just as much for defense against wild animals than it was against humans, if not moreso.

I thought I'd take a few days off of here and let the public furor for gun control die down.

With the Weinstein news raging looks like everyone has moved on already.

Nope. He was a Bernie bro and a Maddow watcher plus #resistance member by proxy. Because fame, immortality and wanting to be heard above the screaming crowd is far too abstract for many people to grasp.

I think the "to be a somebody" idea is what motivates a hella lot of crime, from the minor to the major, the personal to the impersonal.

Like if you watch the original Hitcher, which I think is a good portrayal of criminal dirtbags to be honest, its all about that asshole having a bizarre "relationship" with his target, every one of a multiple murders actually has something to do with relating to that guy, Kalifornia sort of did something similar, maybe did the inability of the non-aggressive type to really switch into being an aggressor better than Hitcher even.
