Default History Haters - What Statues Would You Rather See?

Instead of reminders of a troubled time in America, would you rather see something like this?

    damn that is pretty.

but I don't think we should take down historical things. History has good and bad as do we.

You're damned if you do and damned if you don't, so you might as well be yourself.

I'm attempting the no likes experiment.

I find monuments fascinating from a historical perspective but I don't take them as too offensive or inoffensive; they're just stone and metal symbols and little more.

I prefer animal statues, like lions and owls and shit.

I prefer not to feel oppressed in the public square. Go ahead and take those Confederate statues down and replace them with Care Bears. Care Bears never did anything wrong.....I like things that are cute or pretty. Please put up only pretty and cute things....Actually, funny things are okay, like Gollum from Lord of the Rings.

As I already alluded, I don't have much emotional or sentimental attachment to statues and monuments. That said, I think that John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, John Quincy Adams, Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt are the Presidents most worthy of being memorialized.

The only Confederate worth memorializing is James Longstreet. Most of the confederate monuments in the south were erected during the Jim Crow era, as symbolic of white dominance, so people who use the "it's just history" defense should at least consider the history and politics behind the erection of these monuments.

Haha, I said erection. There's an idea for a monument.

I do quite like the Jefferson Memorial. It's my favorite of the monuments in DC, it's serene and temple-like. The best time for a visit is early on a Spring morning, when the trees are blossoming and it isn't crowded with tourists.

In Japan they have a penis festival to celebrate fertility. This isn't really a monument...
