What I'm waiting to see come out is whether there is any evidence other police officers acted as accessories after the fact or even possibly a straight up accessory depending on what we find out about "the kit behind the pawn shop."

FTR, this is not a crazy hypothetical. It actually selected quotes from actual pre-video release local media reports as much as possible. Check out what the Charleston Post and Courier wrote right before the video came out:

    That's pretty sick.

And there's stuff like this in there:

Rep. Wendell Gilliard, D-Charleston, said it can’t come soon enough. Gilliard has authored legislation to require police agencies to outfit their officers with cameras. As an alternative, he also offered a bill calling for a study of such programs. But he expressed frustration because the measures had not advanced.

“People will say I’m using this (shooting) as a springboard,” he said. “But I’ve said these types of incidents will continue, and when they do, it’s going to be unfortunate that we are not using modern-day technology to stop the speculation and rumors.”
Yeah. Now we don't have to speculate that the cop was lying.

    Big surprise there.

“Pleasure to me is wonder—the unexplored, the unexpected, the thing that is hidden and the changeless thing that lurks behind superficial mutability. To trace the remote in the immediate; the eternal in the ephemeral; the past in the present; the infinite in the finite; these are to me the springs of delight and beauty.” ~ H.P. Lovecraft

    I wondered about this, too.

It's pretty damn chilling how he just casually goes about setting up the scene to justify the shooting after the fact. So...so "business as usual"...gah...

That was my thought as well. There's no way this was his first time, just the first time getting caught.

Default Texas Bill Would Make Recording Police Illegal

You've gotta be fucking kidding me.

No, wait. It's Texas. Carry on.

A bill introduced in the Texas House of Representatives would make it illegal for private citizens to record police within 25 feet.

House Bill 2918, introduced by state Rep. Jason Villalba (R-Dallas) on Tuesday, would make the offense a misdemeanor. Citizens who are armed would not be permitted to record police activity within 100 feet of an officer, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Only representatives of radio or TV organizations that hold an FCC license, newspapers and magazines would have the right to record police.

The legislator disagreed with people on Twitter who said he's seeking to make all filming of cops illegal.

"My bill ... just asks filmers to stand back a little so as not to interfere with law enforcement," Villalba tweeted.

The bill would go against precedent set in 2011 by an appeals court, which found that citizens are allowed to record police, according to the ACLU.
