Question Should we give our kids social media training?

From controversial selfies that become memes to blogging under thin veils of perceived anonymity, more and more young people leave online fingerprints that might very well haunt them the rest of their lives.

Should schools provide social media training in grade school?

You can't stop it. Pushing social standards will be met with SJW's and their shame/blame business. Kids (and everyone else) are finding the only "safe" place to experiment with ideas and other things is online so they retreat into it in some measure. Teaching information technology takes time and maturity and that doesn't help when Sally is sending her nudes out into cyberspace before she's even a teenager.

Seems akin to sex ed in schools, for good or for bad. If I believe that one should be taught in schools, I'd be inclined to think that the other should be, too.

Education should be beefed up in general; it's one of the best tools that we have. Whether through schools, through other programs, or through parents, social media training would be valuable. I'd start by educating the parents on the merits and dangers, then allowing them to apply those lessons to their kids.

If taught well, it would be useful. This generation is growing up in the age of technology, there's no way to shield them from it so we might as well teach them how to embrace it and use it correctly.

In the US, schools would probably invite Facebook employees to give the courses.

The secondary schools here are teaching about it already. They have e-safety classes among other things. At least the two schools that my children go to do.
