It does not, though not for lack of trying.

    To list a few:
    • Birthplace of democracy, common law, civil law, the Industrial Revolution, and the list goes on.
    • Here's a handful of our great thinkers.
    • Largest net wealth in the world.
    • Western culture = European civilization. Barring the negligible contributions from original elements such as Native Americans (maize-based foods?) and Africans (rap), American cultural ideas are simply a sub-set of European culture.
    • Most admired by the rest of the world, arguably making us the world's greatest soft power.

And you are from Germany? Before I came to the great thinkers list, I wondered whether you were from Greece, Great Britain, or Italy. I think Germany is not known for any of these historical feats.

So far we have successfully resisted assimilation.

The whole of the Australian Continent, except for one small territory, rejected an American style Presidency in 1999.

And the whole of the Australian Continent rejected American gun culture in 1996.

At the same time, we claim sovereignty over one whole Continent and half of another. And in order to maintain our sovereignty, we keep the American Fleet in our oceans, while our biggest trading partner is China.

Meanwhile, we are the sixth oldest continuous democracy in the world, and the seventh richest.

Our secret weapon is our sense of humour, unfathomable by the Americans.

You walked on the moon before you were born?
Now you wait for the rest of the world to catch up with you?

Some people do their own thing.
