There are other ways of living, which are far more effective for uniting large numbers of highly clannish people who base their identity on religion.
What works better for Iraq? Being ruled by an iron fist or democracy?

Yeah, well a lot of it doesn't have to do with how other countries live and flourish the best. I mean, if a mostly muslim country wants to live in shariah law, then let them. It's more about America getting more of a foothold than just Israel in Islam dominated regions.

I know you're there. Are you writing a huge essay on how I fit many of your stereotypical ideas about Americans? Or what?

Well obviously you have nothing to offer to back up your statement.

Or maybe I went for a swim then had a couple of beers whilst admiring the view of the Aegean, old town and Greek islands nearby from the apartment, and trying to imagine what the place and people would've looked like a thousand years ago, pre Turkish influence. Somehow I think I'm a bit closer to Iraq than you.

For the record, making sure the beer doesn't freeze concerns me more than this discussion.

Heheh. The suspense must be agonizing. I know it freaks INTPs out to be told that they are typical.

As for my reasons, well; the stereotypical American has a condescending attitude to people from other countries, and sees imposing American culture & values upon them as a positive. Sometimes, this can be merely irritating. However when this principle is applied politically (example: you) it causes a great deal of trouble.

95% of Americans I've met, and I have met mainly wealthy, white Americans - who should be the least like this - come across as loud, arrogant and aggressive people. They tend to hold variations of a political view called neoconservatism, the vibes of which I'm picking up from you.

It's just that we individuals are actually powerless even in democracies, and people of influence and power\wealth are casting this illusion of freedom and will to choose over us, while they use their power to manipulate whatever state apparatus they can get their hands on. That is not just limited to US.

Sometimes I feel like a chicken in those cramped factories who is trying to get some relatively better living conditions (like a free-range chicken) despite still being trapped in the factory.

There's something fundementally wrong with the global administrative system. The system needs a purge to flush out the bad blood.
