    Default European elections, anyone?

I noticed there is no thread about this yet. Come on, people! Even the Eurovision sh*t contest had one.
What feelings do you have, for example, about the growth of nationalist parties like Front National in France (They are going to be the strongest party).

Also, do you find the european union laughable or necessary? I'm not sure yet.

    Another day, same old politics.

As I predicted about a year ago(though everyone pretty much scoffed at my predictions at the time), nationalism is on the rise. Majorly so.

It seems the PPE has won the elections, now we will see if Jean-Claude Junckere will get nominated to replace Baruso.

As far as the necessecity of the EU is concerned, Im not decided either. As a libertarian, I dont see much value in either nationalism or the EU, but hey, that just me.

    Why do you say that?

Dont you feel the return of the extreme right is rather worth talking about?

Make laws against the extreme right?

This is actually what I've suggested in the past.

Except we all know how that'll look like, and how well that works out.

Wouldn't that be anti-democratic? I mean, if we stone the leftie-communists alongside, I'd be in.

This was the first election I was allowed to vote in.

I don't know enough about the individual candidates to vote for any of them, so I voted for the Swedish Left Party.

I don't pay attention to other elections than the national parliamentary election tbh, so it was more of a strategic vote to decrease the number of mandates for the nationalistic Swedish Democrats.
