More young women choosing dogs over motherhood

The federal data behind the report show that over the past seven years, the number of live births per 1,000 women between ages 15 and 29 in America has plunged 9 percent. At the same time, research by the American Pet Products Association shows the number of small dogs — under 25 pounds — in the United States has skyrocketed, from 34. 1 million in 2008 to 40.8 million in 2012.
I see nothing wrong with this - whatever floats their boats. Dogs are easier to take care of (no changing diapers) and you don't need to hire a babysitter.

That's funny! Nothing wrong with a little practice, right? I totally plan to raise a handful of fluffball kittens before I tackle the challenge of motherhood.

It's arguably the worst time in history to have children.

We need to steady on new life I suppose, especially dense places like China (though it's a massive landmass, it leads something like over one billion people).

Yeah, I have a married couple I'm friends with who did the same thing. They went from Pet Fish --> Pet Dog --> Child as a series of litmus tests before embarking on parenthood. "If we can't handle these, how can we handle parenthood?"

I'd rather just birth a litter of kittens & call it a day.

That would be kind of creepy but mostly adorable.
