    Smells like justice.
So this is what all rape victims should do?
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

Probably. Throwing these assholes in jail is a waste of taxpayers money, AFAIC.

But what if it's a false accusation?

That's what the courts are for. To find out if the accused is guilty.
If they are: Get rid of them--and I don't mean prison either.

So rape victims should kill their attackers after they have been convicted by a court of law. If you were raped, you would describe your experience multiple times to multiple people, submit to a rape kit, go through a public trial in which you had to face the person who raped you and have your own manner of dress, sexual history, history of using recreational substances, etc examined and reported in the news (though your name would be kept out of the papers)? And then, if your attacker was found guilty and only then, you would find some way to kill them?

And false accusations will ruin someones life.

In order to convict people you need evidence.
Without a case, you don't get a conviction.

    It's the American way.

If we had an absolute "zero tolerance" policy in which men would be arrested on accusations alone, many women (vindictive feminists and psycho harpies especially) would use this against innocent men who didn't commit any crimes. How about guilty until proven innocent 98% of the time since the statistics of false rape accusations are about 2%? Beyond a reasonable doubt is all I'm asking for, not absolute proof. The chances are very very high that any given woman will be telling the truth.

And that I cannot get behind.
I'm not saying exactly guilty until proven innocent, but we could stand to go a lot farther in that direction without ruining anyone's life. Think about whether you have this same sort of thinking about the death penalty for murder. A lot of people are falsely convicted of murder and sentenced to death, but we still have the death penalty. If you think we still should, you'll have to agree that falsely convicting and sentencing a few alleged rapists is just as justified as falsely convicting and sentencing a few murderers.

An investigation and provisional questions ruins victim's lives? Ridiculous.

Yes, and those cases are built on EVIDENCE.
You're talking about circumventing the legal process altogether.

It isn't justified, period. People shouldn't be wrongly convicted.

    @greenfairy
there is a big difference between saying
    1) "rape is more prevalent in our society and needs to be given more attention by the public, courts and legislatures"
    and saying
    2) "our society encourages rape"
it's a very borderline way of looking at things and fails to take into account proportion and intentionality (which make a world of difference)

in the case of the United States, I don't think we have a rape culture (well, aside from a few strange cults in the South lol). as with most feminist rhetoric, I feel it's too often directed at the wrong people.
