Depends on how one defines disability and unhappiness. The disabled are surely unhappy also, and serious enough "unhappiness" becomes clinical depression. It's the classic stitch in time. Unfortunately, people are too willing to wait and pay for the nine later.
I've been called a criminal, a terrorist, and a threat to the known universe. But everything you were told is a lie. The truth is, they've taken our freedom, our home, and our future. The time has come for all humanity to take a stand...

I'll stick with the legal definitions.

Mental health issues are real problems though. You don't really understand the seriousness of mental disorders then.

Take bipolar disorder for example. It's regarded to be in the top three of the most severe and serious mental disorders (the others being schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder). Not everyone with bipolar disorder is a danger to themselves, or to others. However, without treatment it can lead to serious dysfunction and can even render a person homeless and unable to hold a job because of the seriousness of it. This is something that is well regarded to be a serious issue, and treatment is covered by health insurance because of it.

I think people should be required to go through the same sort of bullshit they have to go through to drive a car if they want to own a gun.

Cars and guns are designed for different purposes.

Cars are designed to take us safely from place to place.

While guns are designed to kill.

That's great if it's working for you in Australia. In the US, it's different because we spend a heck of a lot more on healthcare as it is. Right now, health care spending in the US is about 17% of GDP. It's less than 10% in Germany. We spend about $700 billion on Medicare and Medicaid and those programs waste $100 billion because they are so poorly managed. By going single payer, the amount of waste will just increase.

One major difference between the US and Australia is the number of lawyers we have in the US filing frivolous malpractice lawsuits. There are more lawyers in the US than there are kangaroos in Australia. Each year, 1 in 14 doctors get sued for malpractice and the result is something called "defensive medicine" where the doctor tries to cover his ass from lawsuits by ordering tons of expensive tests.
Senator Rand Paul is alive because of modern medicine and because his attacker punches like a girl.

Yes, this is true. Our health care costs are considerably less than yours, while providing the same level of care.

We might say it is your Bill of Rights that is a lawyers picnic, but so far we have resisted an individual bill of rights, although we have a constitutional bill of rights.

Yes, and so the steps one must go through to own and use a gun should be AT LEAST as extensive and intensive.

Despite that fact, knowing you, you of course will undoubtedly continue your suggestive attempts at brainwashing everybody. Which begs the question, why do you try that? What do you not do for work. Or is trying your chosen profession?

    Ha, you're a funny guy.
