I have a lot of relatives (very brown) living in australia for decades none of whom have complained of racial discrimination and have mentioned how easy it is to integrate into their society and culture.

However they have mentioned that there is a certain amount of islamophobia in aussie media. Then again islam is one of those religions that opposes everything that australian culture (or is it ideology?) is built on and they have probably seen what is happening in the rest of the world and sees islam in australia as the beginning of the end of days.

What are the graphs attempting to prove, in your opinion?

At least they haven't tried to burn the country down this year, so far anyway.

That's because they don't have thumbs, Mal.

Except the cassowaries. And those are technically more lethal thumb toe talons.

Mal, I'm beginning to doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion.

Apropos of nothing, could you link me to that type assessment quiz you made? I've heard good things and my interest has been piqued.

The graphs do not attempt to prove anything. They just illustrate the views of Australians on a number of topical issues, and compare demographic information.

The most flagrantly racist people, as one might expect, are typically poorly educated, lower class, and live further out.

This turned into a big story last year and sparked a lot of outrage. These are not average Australians.

I think there's islamophobia in most western media at the moment. I spoke to a muslim cleric a few months ago who told me that journalists often don't publish her comments, and instead go fishing for extremist comments to publish in stories.
