And can you imagine with Oz on top, the Southern Cross which adorns our skies, would be on top too.

And as a christian, I am sure you know Oz is also known as the Land of the Holy Spirit with the Cross overhead.

I hadn't really noticed how everything points to the south pole.

-How beautiful, this pale Endymion hour.
    -What are you talking about?
-Endymion, my dear. A beautiful youth possessed by the moon.
-Well, forget about him and get to bed.
    -Yes, my dear.

The vertical center of the map should be the Equator, right? The equatorial region of the world looks to be only about 1/3rd of the way from the top on this.

    Oz and Southern Cross?

I heard in Australia they make maps southern side up with Australia in the center.

Maybe there's treasure there... underneath all the ice.

I guess this map is for putting Africa in the center of our attention, so we can stop the starvation, the genocide, and all that other crap that goes on there. It's a terrible place.

It is an odd projection, though it looks like they went with a mercatorish projection while leaving out antarctica, which moves the equator up quite a bit.

    That map gave me vertigo.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”
