There's a lot of irony in the lawsuit when you think about it. Most animal rights activists tend to be center-left/far-left on the political spectrum and these are the very same people who'd restrict human rights (you can't use plastic bags, sell lemonade without a license, drink large sodas or opt out of Obamacare). So on the one hand, these people want to liberate chimps but they do everything possible to encourage humans to stay inside the cage of government dependency.
Senator Rand Paul is alive because of modern medicine and because his attacker punches like a girl.

Don't get me wrong. I applaud what these animal rights folks are doing and I agree that we shouldn't subject chimps to maltreatment in research facilities and zoos. In fact, I see governmental dependence as a sort of human zoo. Animals aren't meant to live inside zoos even though it's safe and you get free food, shelter, and healthcare. But isn't socialism exactly that? Putting people in cages using regulations that discourage pursuit of dreams. Telling people that the world is racist and stacked against them so they shouldn't even try to better themselves? Is my understanding complete? Of course not, but I'm closer to the truth than most.
