    Default Bin Laden's Bad Rep

So Bluewing started a thread on Feeling and linked to Bin Laden.

    http://www.typologycentral.com/forum...-debunked.html

Though it wasn't the main point of that thread his inclusion rightly prompted some ensuing discussion.

Though just for the heck of it, I will contend that the man is not totally without rationality, even though i heavily disagree with him.

    Watch video here:

Some of you may contend that I am merely an ENTP playing the Devil's Advocate. Feel free to do so

Anyway, for the purposes of typing remember that the man is the product of an overly Fe-culture and as such would naturally seem Feeling regardless of his actual type. Much akin to Jennifers point that Bush is an SP raised in an SJ environment, actually.

He's not completely irrational. He explains his rationale behind the terrorism in his videos. He is evil, though.

-How beautiful, this pale Endymion hour.
    -What are you talking about?
-Endymion, my dear. A beautiful youth possessed by the moon.
-Well, forget about him and get to bed.
    -Yes, my dear.

We have a pretty good idea what evil is, because we came as close as possible to absolute evil in the shoah or holocaust.

And coming so close to absolute evil, we enshrined the opposite in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights within the United Nations.

And we passed laws against genocide.

And it is under these laws that an arrest warrant for the President of Sudan, Al-Bashir, is to be issued by the International War Crimes Tribunal.

And anyone who describes evil as, "quaint", is fatuous.

Bin Laden is evil. However, he isn't evil because of his opinions/views, he is evil because of his methods of attempting to advance those opinions/views. (I completely disagree with him, but that's irrevelant here).

I'm a moral person, but I also try to be critical and objective. I consider evil a word that's silly in its absolutism. Silly in its subjectivity. I have never labeled anyone evil in earnest.

Ultimately, I think the concept of good and bad can only really be applied to principles. Peoples' actions can be defined as relatively good or bad by rule of those principles, but the person as a whole can not be reasonably classified as good or evil. People are, only by the sum of the consequnces of their actions, comparitvely better or worse. No one is wholley and definitively good or evil.
