    No.

    1) They are too strategically important to US interests given their location.

    2) There is a large (politically powerful) constituency in the US committed to Israel and the surrounding issues

If we took a more neutral and objective stance regarding Israel, would Islamic jihadists stop targeting America?

It prevents more of them from targeting us.

Considering the current apparent strategy of the US 'I' believe it is the smart thing to do to make Jihadists make more and more civilian attacks around the world, without causing much damage.

This way the world is reminded that terrorism really exists and that the wars waged in the middle east are actually justifiable.

How do you discount the inverted relationship? Just curious.

    Follow up question:
What country [if any] does whatever it thinks it should (while not factoring in any foreign opinion)?

What country in the modern age has had to defend its very existence by force of arms against the negative opinions of other nations as often as Israel? The state of their military preparedness shows how much weight they give to the opinions of other nations.
I've been called a criminal, a terrorist, and a threat to the known universe. But everything you were told is a lie. The truth is, they've taken our freedom, our home, and our future. The time has come for all humanity to take a stand...

I don't think any country has to defend itself against negative opinions through utilizing 'force of arms'. Using physical violence against other people's opinions is a kind of authoritarianism that is unwarranted... Opinions aren't in themselves violent, only when it amounts to actual conspiracy to plan particular deeds of aggression is the option of force warranted;- and no country broadcasts their plans of invasion in their media- which is by it's very nature a reporting of perception and not fact; and in my opinion: subverting the expression of real feelings by genuinely concerned peoples will stand in the way of the 'other side' hearing how they need to adapt how they present themselves to their 'neighbors'. Of course if societies were more mixed, and there were element's of each nation living within other nations, modes of inter-relatedness and channels of consideration could emerge creatively which could be a good focal point for politicians to capitalize on and emulate. However when a country conducts itself as if the concept of 'living amongst one's neighbors' should be abolished, such a state will in my opinion inevitably court misunderstandings, fears and resentments.

    --- further addition---
Of course this state of affairs of not wanting to live amongst one's neighbors is borne from a ideological conflict where both side's can't allow the other side to enjoy the preference they have chosen for themselves... As when each side believes that they are the true holders of the 'the answer';- accommodation can be difficult. But this is why we just learn to adapt our habits or manners depending on what we understand about the particular audience we may be courting- this does not have to entail disingenuousness- just a willingness to give joy (or to let others enjoy) so that one can obtain a resulting peace.

[sorry this will sound like I'm preaching again: but-- My priest told me "There is no peace without joy, and no joy without righteousness]
