    Default An Historic French Bill

The French are about to pass an historic Bill. The Bill will make it illegal to buy the body of a woman.

This is a not a Bill directed at women who sell their bodies, but the Bill is directed at men who buy the bodies of women. And there is a fine and the male perpetrator will be required to attend a course explaining the damage they are doing to women.

This is an historic Bill akin to the Bill to abolish institutional slavery.

And this Bill is a body blow against Patriarchy.

For Patriarchy depends on the right of men to buy the bodies of women.

    http://www.theguardian.com/world/201...llegal-pay-sex

    Basically prostitution would be illegal.

If a law is introduced, France would join only a handful of European countries where clients of sex workers face prison. In 1999 Sweden became the first, followed by Norway and Iceland
I don't see how this is revolutionary at all. It's been illegal in the States forever now.

And France isn't really known for being progressive with Anyone's rights. I think the OP is mistakenly painting a picture of France being very altruistic in this law... somehow...

    Lol thats small potatoes.

The swiss voted against capping CEO pay at 12 times that of the lowest paid employee.

    From Bloomberg:

Ask the gypsies in France how they feel about human rights...

Proof that the fallacies of humanity permeate throughout all places.

The problem isn't the theoretical parts of it.. it's the abuse of the theory in practice.

Sex work is legal in Australia.

However sex work still involves buying the bodies of women.

And the French Bill doesn't make sex work illegal, it makes the buying of women's bodies illegal.

So the French Bill, and subsequent Bills in civilized countries, are not directed against female sex workers but against the men who buy women's bodies.

And as patriarchy depends on buying the bodies of women, this Bill is a blow against patriarchy.

And this Bill will not only require huge adjustment of their behaviour by men, but also huge adjustment of the behaviour of women, just as did the Bill against slavery.

This Bill will affect how we see one another. Men will no longer be able to buy the bodies of women, and women will have to find another paymaster.

The psychological ramifications are enormous, as are the ramifications in the raising of children.

And they said just the same things about slavery.

And yet in the face of such self interested viciousness, we abolished institutional slavery in 1833 in the House of Commons.

And now the French legislature leads the world.
