Default Melissa Bachman's Infamous Lion Carcass Picture

Eventually it will become illegal to "murder" animals but legal to hunt humans.

Wait, isn't that exactly what we're doing in Afghanistan?

Lions are typically too easy a kill to be honorably hunted. You can stroll up next to a pride and sip on a latte within a few meters and the lions will literally not give a shit. Unless you're killing one in self-defense, it can be like shooting fish in a barrel.

It is funny how trophy hunting in psychopaths is considered one of the worst evils coz it is humans that pay the price. The fact that we as a species trophy-hunt other animals seems to be something our society doesn't even bat an eye at. Hypocrisy and self-preservation ftw.

Worse yet. Wasn't the lion imported to the US and killed on a private preserve where the animal has no chance anyway?

? I do see quite a bit of eye-batting going on about this picture.

True. The empathy shows in some people when confronted with the result. But that reaction has yet to reach critical mass, to the point where it actually becomes something people act on. The effort it would take to update and execute laws that are atm either non-existent or outdated, the condoning of recreational hunting coz it's tradition or what not, and the need to make a sport out of killing (coz it makes you a man or what not) still outweigh our empathy as a society atm. And then I'm not even talking about the fact that it is absolutely normal to consider animals property, to be traded and bartered like any other object.

Exactly. Just.. bleh. I like and support hunting--and for sport I feel hunting should be more challenging than using guns. What this girl did was the gun equivalent of hiring a decorator for her house so she can say what a beautiful house she created.
