I tried this one and I got these two responses, as well as

    - women and men can be friends
    - women and men can't just be friends

"Women and men can be friends" was the top one I got.

I also retried women shouldn't and got:

    - vote ann coulter
    - drive
    - preach

    men shouldn't
    -pay for dates
    -vote
    -shave
    -cry

    Apparently people hate democracy.

    The underlined, preach it!

The last one makes me sad.

    Apparently people hate democracy.
    And love stereotypes.

Let me confess: I cry at the movies watching brave men face impossible odds.

Other factors can skew search results - such as the user's past search history.

    Whereabouts are you searching from??

    Feminists are....
    ....sexist
    ....stupid
    ...annoying
    ....crazy
    ...retarded
    ...hypocrites
    ...ugly
    ....evil
    .....misandrists

(not one single positive word was searched for as the top searches)
This reminds me of Joss Whedon's ridiculous speech a week or so ago.
Thx for the mansplanation there, Joss. That was really helpful.

    Google says:

As you type, Autocomplete predicts and displays queries to choose from. The search queries that you see as part of Autocomplete are a reflection of the search activity of users. In addition to these queries, you may also see suggestions from:

    • Relevant searches you’ve done in the past (if you’re signed in and have Web History turned on)
    • Google+ profiles that match the name of a person you’re searching for

Apart from the Google+ profiles that may appear, all of the predicted queries that are shown in the drop-down list have been typed previously by Google users.

It does not say "users in your locale". It draws from all users.

What article? Those are my words drawn from my own research.
They're not broadly the same. Some are strikingly different. Which demonstrates the truth of the statement. /derp

It has been localized since 2009, according to that source.
