    World War III? Paying attention to politics makes me feel more helpless than I already do.

    What happens if the timing of this ends with us bombing Syria on 9-11?

    Yes, the problem with firing missiles into Syria is that it is an act of war, and war is inherently unpredictable.

    I'm pleased that the uk government lost the vote on Syria. Though it is ironic that the opposition party took us into Iraq and Afghanistan. At least they have learned something from it.

    There is no good outcome for the so called Western countries. It is time that local governments take some action. If not, that's fine, but then there can be no rhetoric of moral superiority.

    The rest of the world must love the fact that they can do nothing and America takes most of the blame for non-intervention. Especially from the rebels, apparently.

    I'll take the tax free pay + combat pay. I'm only putting up with this shit for the money anyway. I guess I'd make a better mercenary than a soldier.

    Why do we do this?
    You hem me in -- behind and before;
    you have laid your hand upon me.

    Well since the Russians may have started it all with a proxy strike on that date it'd be some sort of poetic justice.

    I think there hasnt been any lesson learned by afghanistan and Iraq, it increased the militancy of the populations and political factions who are opposed to intervention, as such I think that it could have been a marvelous stroke of geopolitical engineering by some one of the big non-english speaking power blocs.

    So they succeeded in duping those nations into a long campaign which did them no good strategically, probably had negative social, economic and even military consequences too for those nations, and has made it more difficult, boy that cried wolf style, to fight future campaigns, even when horrendous acts of atrocious violence against civilians, non-combatants and children are perpetrated as provocation.

    Some faction has been very clever in all this, its totally Sun Tsu, this has only made the use of WMDs more likely and not less. Within states or between states and the thing about it all is that the secret thought circuling every non-interventionist head, that they can use these things "elsewhere" to their hearts conent and it wont effect them in their part of the world is bullshit. When the Koreans or Pakistan and India choose to nuke each other there's going to be a radio active cloud which wont simply disapate where it originates.
