    These kinds of sites exist already. Facebook's accessibility is the (only) thing that has made it ubiquitous.

    I don't know if that's entirely true. There were others with universal access, orkut, MySpace and tagged come to mind. Facebook out executed the business model.

    MySpace was even first, but seemed like just a dumbed down geocities when it started.
