They don't mention it because there's an ongoing investigation and the shooting happened last night.

The reason I know, is that my coworkers daughter was there. The daughter told her, and she told me.

I have no idea on what kind of time frame these facts will publicly be released.

Not a lawyer, but I know what I'm talking about.

That's fair, figured there might be a connection between the office and all that.
Don't know how much it'll bend til it breaks.

Eloquent send up of the verdict by Ta-Nehisi Coates in the Atlantic. The whole article is worth a read, but I'm quoting the thrust of it here:

From Trayvon Martin and the Irony of American Justice:

It is painful to say this: Trayvon Martin is not a miscarriage of American justice, but American justice itself. This is not our system malfunctioning. It is our system working as intended. To expect our juries, our schools, our police to single-handedly correct for this, is to look at the final play in the final minute of the final quarter and wonder why we couldn't come back from twenty-four down.
The Onion also posted a satire along the same lines.

From "In Our Defense, These Were Some Pretty Fucked-Up Laws And We Were Ordered To Deliberate In Accordance With Them":

Now, I realize many of you are incredibly upset by our verdict, but in our defense, these laws are completely fucked up, and our responsibility as jurors was to rule in accordance with them. Perhaps you should focus your anger not on us, but the moronic—I might say insane—statutes we were charged with upholding.
Meanwhile, David Simon's remarks on Zimmerman's acquittal are a thing of caustic beauty.

From "Trayvon" posted on his website:

I confess, their patience and patriotism is well beyond my own.

Behold, the lewd, pornographic embrace of two great American pathologies: Race and guns, both of which have conspired not only to take the life of a teenager, but to make that killing entirely permissible. I can’t look an African-American parent in the eye for thinking about what they must tell their sons about what can happen to them on the streets of their country. Tonight, anyone who truly understands what justice is and what it requires of a society is ashamed to call himself an American.
And so long as you haven’t experienced this: to die and so to grow,
you are only a troubled guest on the dark earth

Good article, indeed. Though I think the crux of it is here:

When you have a society that takes at its founding the hatred and degradation of a people, when that society inscribes that degradation in its most hallowed document, and continues to inscribe hatred in its laws and policies, it is fantastic to believe that its citizens will derive no ill messaging.
Yes, this was the justice system working as intended... a jury of his peers and all that. But racism is built into the system. It always was. And until we find some way to change our culture and change the system, things like this are going to keep happening.
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

Any party to a conflict that initiates the physical aspect of the same would be at a disadvantage given FL's self defense laws, not just African Americans.

And yes I did read the article.

So you didn't finish, but should be considered an expert anyway?

Well, I think the issue here is whether people (namely, the jury, but also the general public) believe that Martin did indeed initiate the physical aspect.

The evidence supports Zimmerman's account of events.

There were scuffs on Trayvons knuckles and damage to GZ's face and head.

The only other mark on Trayvon was the 9mm slug to the sternum. Facts are stubborn things.
