Trayvon had a cell phone. Instead of calling 911 about a creepy white ass stalker, he took the law into his own hands.

My point is that we don't know for sure whether he continued to follow him or not. That is relevant, because it speaks to the amount of concrete evidence against him. You are painting this picture in your head, and thus condemning a man to prison for what might have happened. The burden of proof rests on the prosecution to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that sufficient conditions were met so as to negate Florida's very robust Stand-Your-Ground Law. A jury of six concluded that they did not.

    Let's look at these first:

Initial investigators had no reason to suspect Zimmerman initiated physical contact with Martin. Martin shows no signs of physical trauma apart from the gunshot wound, and no contact point Zimmerman would have used to assault Martin show signs of trauma either. Simultaneously, Zimmerman has been clearly physically assaulted.

A jury, unanimously selected between both the prosecutor and defendants, arrove to the same conclusion after one day of deliberation.

    Now watch this:

Corroborate this with witness testimony, and the 9/11 police recording, and...

The evidence points to Zimmerman being attacked and Martin being the attacker. There's no way to prove it otherwise, therefore, Zimmerman is not guilty.

Edit: I'm also astounded, maybe appalled, this video only has just over one hundred thousand views.

Trayvon started running. Z didn't give chase, but headed back to his vehicle.

Oh, by the way, I just noticed my unicorn hood ornament was on the driveway. I must have knocked it off with my bulk. I noticed it when I went to get to the hose to get off all the blood on me after I was just attacked by a crazy three year old on Sunny D for no reason. Thank god I had my gun or I would have been done for sure.
[Trump's] rhetoric is not an abuse of power. In the same way that it's also not against the law to do a backflip off of the roof of your house onto your concrete driveway. It's just mind-numbingly stupid and, to say the least, counterproductive. - Bush did 9-11

What he did was stupid, but not illegal.

And again, killing him wasn't proven beyond reasonable doubt with concrete evidence that he wasn't in mortal fear for his life the moment he pulled the trigger. Killing someone when you are in mortal fear for your life is absolutely legal. Bear in mind that those charged with crimes (though arrested/incarcerated until/through the trial) are- on paper- innocent until PROVEN guilty in court. They could not prove that guilt, in the end. They could not prove that he wasn't defending himself. Sure it feels wrong, but ultimately that is how the present system operates.
The bold part... I'm not so sure I like that law. In an ideal, moral sense, I believe in self-defense, but I see that particular legal standard as problematic.

This isn't anything new, like I said. When prosecutors can't prove beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant committed the crime they've been charged with, they walk. Sexual predators, robbers, murderers. Some are never even arrested because prosecutors know they just don't have enough concrete evidence to land any semblance of a conviction.

There have actually always been at least two levels to this debate. One is whether or not Zimmerman is guilty by Florida's law. The other is whether or not Florida's laws are retarded and should be changed.

Since when is 'reasonable doubt' a Florida law? I thought other states had that law too - I would speculate, 50 of them, Washington D.C., and probably Puerto Rico too.

    Assuming it's a law.
