Yes, or another way of putting it is that the meaning of any communication is its response.

In writing a book the delay between the communication and its response is so great, we can believe the author alone is in command of the communication. But in posting on Central we get a response from across the world in real time, in seconds. And so it is becoming more obvious that the meaning of a communication is its response.

Look how responsive you are today. In a matter of seconds I can expect to receive your reply. So I am not a lone author consoling myself with cigarettes and whisky, but I am writing in company. I am collaborating with you. We are collaborators. We are electric collaborators, collaborating against the tyranny of print.
