Default Venezuela government orders troops to streets, arrests + tortures 100s of opponents

Meanwhile toilet paper supplies are running low and they need 50 million emergency imports (contained in link above).

    Three key points:

1.) The military leadership is trained logistically by China and ideologically by Cuba, and is bankrolling with petrodollars allied anti-US governments across the region and the world.

2.) The army have been sent mainly to opposition districts with a police force and government "hostile" to the regime.

3.) At least 50% of voters opposed the government.

Likewise, video of opposition being pysically attacked by officialist Congressmen INSIDE PARLIAMENT (1:46 onwards).

Unfortunately, the Chavistas control all state institutions and most 'private' institutions after years of illiberal democracy....at this point, its probably going to take at least 60% societal opposition for even some kind of power-sharing agreement, and the Chavistas can be expected to apply even worse coercive measures before accepting that.

Edit: several years ago, a college friend from Venezuela recommended the following blog for insight into the Venezuela situation (I frankly haven't been keeping up with it, It got too depressing and I've been preoccupied with domestic politics); anyone who's interested may wish to check it out. http://devilsexcrement.com/

Its still a more democratic situation than western governments like the UK in which existing inadequate essential services are being further cut back to accomodate tax evaders and the payment of multimillion bonuses to failed and failing banks
