Default Internet blackout: Syria has been cut off from the rest of the world

There are a few articles on this. I don't know what one is best.

I've also been reading about some people having difficulty contacting family members by phone in Syria, but I do not actually know the status of cell towers and landline phone service.

it's weird because all of society existed like this for most of human history. hearsay and sparse contact was the norm, how terrible.
Don't know how much it'll bend til it breaks.

Well, no one commented on this, but there was a fear that something bad was about to break out. The good news is everything is back online and nothing major happened. The government likely did this in an attempt to separate the rebel forces, but fortunately they did not use this to start a bloody offensive.

This above article states that landlines and mobile phone services were never knocked out. I wonder why people couldn't get through to their families the other day then.

    Meanwhile, in the real world...

The Ummayad minaret of the great mosque of Aleppo (11th century) has been destroyed.

Syria currently has internet access, although I don't know for how long. A friend of mine from Syria is back up on FB.

Yes it's a civil war. And as we speak the fights continue.

The minaret was destroyed by tanks of the regular Syrian army just two weeks ago (24th of april). That's the real world.

I think I might be looking at a related story or just a related event? I seriously don't know what is going on there anymore. That place is more than meets the eye.

To sum it up, Israel sent airstrikes on Syria because there were missiles from Iran. It had the "possibility" of being sent to Hezbollah. So Israel pretty much said that their actions there wasn't to aid the Syrian Rebels.
