Default smoke inhalation from living in CA

I cannot stand being outside, now. Even the inside of my workplace is smokey.

Northern California wildfires force hundreds to flee homes

Lately, its So. Cal. that got hit. But my area definitely has issues.

Hasn't cali been on fire for like 15 fuckin' years? Makes you wonder in awe at the resilience of plant life to renew itself

It's not perpetually on fire, just here-and-there now-and-then. Contrary to popular imagination (even here), California is a really big and diverse state that encompasses a staggering array of very distinct regions, both natural and social. In the east it'd be 15 states.

Well, maybe not 15 states but it's about from Georgia to Maryland. In California, you get extremes from the grandeur and gentle majesty of Northern California to the tumbleweed strewn wasteland of mouth-breathing surfers, porn stars, and hard-working Mexicans that inhabit the endless wasteland of strip malls in the south.

Centralia, PA has been on fire since the 1960s. No one has lived there since the 1960s.

I hope the fires stop in Cali. I love that state, and I will be living there myself soon enough. So much beautiful scenery and wildlife goes up in smoke every year.

Actually, some of plant seeds have adapted to not germinate until they've had some kind of interaction with fire (I'm not sure if it's directly burned or just really heated or what). Fire is a part of the ecology here, and California's been burning for a lot longer than 15 years (though like Wolf said, not continuously, of course). That's why when we fight it, we're really just saving up fuel for massive events like this.

Oh, and yes, this smoke is completely shitty.

Agreed. We can see, smell, even taste the smoke in the air.

We're used to summer fog, but that's a clean, fresh ocean smell.

Actually, I was just thinking I've probably heard about this issue every single summer for the last 5 years.
