Default Student Charged With Felony Over Science Experiment

    http://communities.washingtontimes.c...elony-science/

"Curious to experiment for an upcoming Science Fair, Wilmot mixed toilet bowl cleaner and aluminum foil in a tiny 8-ounce water bottle. The student was unsure what to expect, but heard from a friend the mixture would produce non-toxic smoke. The concoction caused the bottle top to pop off and, in fact, produce smoke.

Assistant Principal Dan Durham reportedly heard the noise, investigated and called the police."

"Justice" department. As much as I desperately want to comment more in depth regarding this event, I really don't want to get in another argument with the twisted people who reside on this forum.

    Raison d'être

Because almost no one learns to read and write at home, free secular and compulsory education was needed to create universal literacy.

But now we learn to use the telephone, the mobile, the television, the computer, the internet, at home. It is obvious we no longer need compulsory education to become electrically literate.

This is a direct threat to the schools and the values they embody.

The schools are necessarily based on authoritarian values, and as these values are under existential threat, the schools defend their values as they defend their raison d'être.

    No.... no it couldn't.

Though if they didn't have an upset student with a potential stint of terrorism in their future, they do now.

Only if the student has an ideology that valourises terrorism.

Ah, it was mostly a joke. I don't know how I feel about the subject, personally.

Though while I'm here, thank you for that further reading regarding the bicameral mind and religion, the other day.

While what she did was stupid, I don't think it warrants the charges. I would definitely suspend her, maybe expulsion for a year, but that's it. Making her into a felon doesn't solve anything. The act doesn't justify the punishment, or the consequences.

It's stupid. The student deserves a detention. People are getting ridiculous. Curious kids like blowing things up. My friends and I did. I'm pretty sure there's video of evidence of us producing a 20 ft high flame on some vacant property with an explosion. Crap, even when we did get caught it wasn't so bad. I remember getting caught by a cop trespassing and using fireworks and a potato gun. He told us to stop what we were doing. Then he saw the potato gun, asked if he could give it a try, he took a shot with it, and then told us to go home. All of this was before 911.
