I'm confused. You think the main way that gays promote same-sex marriage is by parades? Maybe I'm just misunderstanding what you are saying, but that sounds a little ... wrong.

Not even aware of a parade in Maryland this year that helped win same-sex marriage rights in this state. It was all about by networking, being active parts of the community, lobbying groups and politicians, and maintaining stable secure monogamous relationships regardless.... basically showing there is no need to distinguish between types of relationship.

Yes, because it is merely your personal taste. If you don't like spinach, there is nothing I can do about it. All it proves, though, is that you don't like spinach.

perhaps arguing the banning of ALL marriages would have flown better then!

No, no, I know it's not the only way it's promoted; my main problem is not how, but that it is promoted. It becomes a social trend when it becomes promoted.

How does social change ever occur in a democracy if the public is not made aware of existing problems and possible solutions? Promotion is one way of advocating an issue in public discourse, although I agree that pride parades are a poor means in this case and often more silly than helpful.

What is the issue with the legal right for same-sex couples to marry being promoted? And what do you mean that, when promoted, it becomes a social trend?
