For all that we have done, as a civilization, as individuals, the universe is not stable, and nor is any single thing within it. Stars consume themselves, the universe itself rushes apart, and we ourselves are composed of matter in constant flux. Colonies of cells in temporary alliance, replicating and decaying and housed within, an incandescent cloud of electrical impulses. This is reality, this is self knowledge, and the perception of it will, of course, make you dizzy.

    Online, perhaps.

I never watch news, I read it all online, but I'm not picky and I just dig through Google News.

If it's big news, you'll hear about it sooner or later. Usually when somebody here posts a thread about it.

I have my streaks where I completely ignore the news (mostly from twitter), but I cannot keep it up constantly. Although it would be probably better to ignore them completely, unless you are actually planning to do something in response, like moving to another country (where you will get disappointed again) or starting a revolt. Otherwise it is just about annoying yourself constantly, but apparently I must like that for some reason.

Ive always thought the point of the news is to get the barest minimum on each situation, within each single story and then filter it to its core, by throwing out all the information that can be discerned as bias and misappropriation.

In short...it's better not to watch it at all.
'One of (Lucas) Cranach's masterpieces, discussed by (Joseph) Koerner, is in it's self-referentiality the perfect expression of left-hemisphere emptiness and a precursor of post-modernism. There is no longer anything to point to beyond, nothing Other, so it points pointlessly to itself.' - Iain McGilChrist

Suppose a tree fell down, Pooh, when we were underneath it?"
"Suppose it didn't," said Pooh, after careful thought.
    Piglet was comforted by this.
    - A.A. Milne.
