cmon man haven't you ever heard of the hooker that goes to confession on sunday? It was a meme before memes existed
For all that we have done, as a civilization, as individuals, the universe is not stable, and nor is any single thing within it. Stars consume themselves, the universe itself rushes apart, and we ourselves are composed of matter in constant flux. Colonies of cells in temporary alliance, replicating and decaying and housed within, an incandescent cloud of electrical impulses. This is reality, this is self knowledge, and the perception of it will, of course, make you dizzy.

This would hold some relevance if, you know, there were actually "porn stars" anymore as oppose to just chicks who do porn.

you are only a troubled guest on the dark earth

    ha ha, Shippensburg University???

    Total tangent here:

It's in Pennsylvania about 40 miles from Harrisburg, in the middle of nowhere. They have a lot of teachers who go there from our area for their certificate work. (I had classmates from high school go there and drove up a few times to hang on the weekends.) One of my close friends growing up had a dad who taught English there.

There's a philosophy prof with a decent philosophy website, but I'm not really sure what their credentials are for this level of study. I'm also not sure where they found their porn stars; there are not any in the area, which is actually kind of anti-porn -- it's in a locale where adult bookstores were routinely picketed by religious fundies when I grew up, to the point of them writing down license plate numbers of anyone visiting the store.

All that being said, I'm on Asia Carrera's "Friends" list on FaceBook (don't read too much into that, I think she has a big list!), and she's been out of the porn industry for awhile now and raising two kids on her own (because her husband died in an accident), and she's got to be one of the more driven, intelligent, motivated people I've known regardless of gender or profession.

I'm guessing there are people at both ends of the spectrum in the industry -- either you know what the hell you're doing and can protect your boundaries and look out for yourself, or you might get chewed up and used and spit out on the other side. The few who really do well might be pulling up the scores of the really messed up. (I've known another girl who is in trans porn and sat in on some of her Q/A's; it seems very professional in how they run things, although she doesn't make a ton of money.)

I'd like to see the variance range on the study, for one. It might be like trying to compare high-level courtesans with streetwalkers in the back alleys of Detroit.

To trace the remote in the immediate; the eternal in the ephemeral; the past in the present; the infinite in the finite; these are to me the springs of delight and beauty.” ~ H.P. Lovecraft

The article didn't say how they selected their study sample. I suspect they got a better response rate from the more well-adjusted women.
