Umm... no. Definitely not needed, even for... err... a fairly comprehensive range of activities. (Surely you don't need the various options demonstrated with action figures.) Turning one's back is totally unnecessary unless James Bond prefers being a face to the pillow kind of guy (even if one were assuming that was the only sex act there was).

Personally, I prefer when they don't ret-con existing characters with an established sexuality to be gay. I could see a bi James Bond, but no more than that. When it's a new character with a new name and backstory (such as with the gay Green Latern, or the black Spider-Man), then basic character traits are more up for grabs (like race or sexuality).

And, to back up EJCC (thanks for the bear shout out!): gay men can be quite masculine, although I'd agree on the average we tend to be a bit less masculine than straight men—although the bell curves overlap a great deal. The plus side is that having to appear straight/butch becomes less of a straight-jacket after one has weathered coming out.

the means justify the ends and if james needs to pumpp someone for information, he is probably going to do it to complete is objective. i dont see it beyond the character. he is a spy.

OMG. How long have I not been reading comics? There's a black Spiderman?

That's a nice chart. I like the design... and I'm relieved to see M (and, uh, Q) nowhere on it.

If James Bond was gay, I might actually watch the movie.

The whole metrosexual ladies man thing gets tiresome. It's too redundant. He's not exactly Danny Trejo. Bond should encounter another male spy who is his nemesis and they almost fall in love just before they kill each other and then it's all over. No more Bond movies. Ever.

See? It's always the haters who want to "reform" a classic series!

    Boo!!!!

Sometimes I think bond has all that sex cause he's just so freaking bored. What hobby is going to excite you if you job is international espionage. A lot of times it seems like he's just doing the girls a favor. "Oh, you here in my room? Well I guess I'll shag you. Then I'll just kind of leave".

Like in this latest movie he doesn't seen particularly hot for anybody. Sex is just what he does if ther is no one to kill.

I could see bond with a guy just because why not. Probably starting with an escalating dare which he of course wins. I don't see it as vulnerability because bond wouldn't love a man (or woman). Or be affectionate with either, just sex.

Sexing and then killing a villain. I imagine bond putting on a wristwatch after implied coitus, his nude lover Swiggin back some scotch while sneakily going for the pistol. But wait it isn't there! One liner about "always watching the back door" and BLAM!

    Or

After some super spying with fellow 00 Dick Longmember, the two agents end up traped in some old afghani bunker. "Does the killing ever bother you bond?" "a target's a target". Bond makes a crack about wishing some broads were around. Longmember says he prefers dudes, implies bind will dislike that. Bind expresses his lack of care with "a targets a target". Hahas all around. Bond removes his jacket , fade to black.... Spy's are awaken, nude and unmistakable close together. Shoot people, save the day, bond leaves Longmember stranded on beach in his coconut swimsuit.

    Or

Just a filler scene of bond leaving an eastern european bathhouse full of dozens of exhausted and satiated men.

All seem plausible given his level of indifference.

I used a lot of implication but hey, it's pg 13.
