I think you guys are reading waaaay too deeply into this I imagine it's more of a "I bet this makes you uncomfortable doesn't it bond." "Actually fuck you even though I'm tied up I'm still a badass and you can't intimidate me." thing
For all that we have done, as a civilization, as individuals, the universe is not stable, and nor is any single thing within it. Stars consume themselves, the universe itself rushes apart, and we ourselves are composed of matter in constant flux. Colonies of cells in temporary alliance, replicating and decaying and housed within, an incandescent cloud of electrical impulses. This is reality, this is self knowledge, and the perception of it will, of course, make you dizzy.

As much as I'm heartened politically by such a development, if that means more dudes and less Bérénice Marlohes, then I think I could stand for a temporary separation of the personal from the political.

I still don't know how they made Sam and Frodo NOT gay in LOTR. Those little fellas were queer as, God bless 'em.

That's exactly what Javier Bardem said about it in interviews. I'm not sure why everyone is running off to la-la land about what that little snippet of dialogue means, they were just trying to rattle each other's chains, and neither flinched, and the angle was dropped.

I mean, srsly? Are we all such literalists all of a sudden?

But, but...isn't this one of those "what if" scenarios that you all love to claim is your forte?

Anyway, @OP, why did you post an article from 2006? I'm confused. Daniel Craig made the "pushing for teh gay" comment before Skyfall, then? So it materialized in the gay sexual harassment scene in Skyfall, or did he say somewhere else that he wants to amp it up in the follow up to Skyfall?

If Bond is gay it looks like I'm one of the last great heterosexual male heroes.

    Who's the literalist?

The question was how people would react to a bisexual Bond. The quoted movie scene was merely a trigger for that. And what makes the question about a potentially bisexual Bond worth discussing is that it is only an example of a popcultural icon of masculinity.

What this is really about in my eyes is a) to what degree are bi men perceives as more, equally or less manly as/than hetero men and b) how flexible are people in general when it comes to such reinterpretations of said popcultural icons and c) would such a reinterpretation be perceived as threatening to cultural norms and/or people's concepts of male sexuality and if so why?
