For all that we have done, as a civilization, as individuals, the universe is not stable, and nor is any single thing within it. Stars consume themselves, the universe itself rushes apart, and we ourselves are composed of matter in constant flux. Colonies of cells in temporary alliance, replicating and decaying and housed within, an incandescent cloud of electrical impulses. This is reality, this is self knowledge, and the perception of it will, of course, make you dizzy.

I just read in the NYT that 17 states in total have had a citizen-initiated secession petition since the election. I know it's just a bunch of yahoos, but it's still pretty entertaining. Maybe after they're done debunking evolution and legalizing cannons they can get Obama declared 3/5 of a person!

    ^Yup, not just Louisiana apparently.

The difference between this and the civil war is that it's not one side vs the other. It's parts vs the whole.

Though I won't say never, I'll say as x approaches never, will this ever happen.

    But it's fun to watch.

Also, according to Scalia, states don't have the right to succeed...I find that laughable. That is according to who, exactly? He'll end up doing more harm than good...

Can 3/5 of a person run for president? We have to find ways to keep him from winning a third term.

It'd be interesting to see that happen.

I wonder what the negotiated break up of the US would do to the EU or if it would influence China or Russia.
