I think that is exactly right.

Lol, watch as the secretary of state, Clinton, and others involved decide to abandon ship as well. This, imo, was less about the affair and more about the convenient choice of timing in front of the shitstorm about to come over the Bengasi incident. Nobody wants to take the fall for this mess. Nobody wants to fall on the sword for Obama. WHEN the hell have you ever seen a political figure resign from their position, out of the blue, with absolutely NO media foreknowledge of something as minor as an extramarital affair? I cannot recall such such a situation.

I thought the exact same thing.

    Exactly.

Are there grounds to impeach President Obama?

I honestly don't think this could be grounds for impeachment as he basically won't say anything about it directly.

What sucks though is that all the information coming in tends to be conflicting about it. Some people say they did everything they could, while others show administrative incompetence in how the situation was dealt with. Some claim support was directly denied, while others say this was not true, suggesting instead that everything was done to rescue survivors.

I imagine it was more about lack of preparation and organization, leading to uncertainty about how to deal with the situation, possibly with help being denied at some point on those grounds until they could asses things and get prepared to help. But I expect the administration to deny the idea of help being denied and to make it look like all reasonable action was taken, given the situation's circumstances. But it doesn't help the case that they did have a lot of evidence to suggest an attack, which shows incompetence somewhere in leadership. If incompetence in leadership gets focused on, someone will have to take a fall. Maybe it will come back to Patraeus, conveniently, now that he's resigned. Who knows. This whole thing stinks though.

But will they? As it stands now, he will not talk in front of Congress at his appointed time and someone else will replace him. This fact alone makes me uneasy.

Your statement implies that defense is not praise worthy and recklessness is not censurable.

I wonder who he pissed off
For all that we have done, as a civilization, as individuals, the universe is not stable, and nor is any single thing within it. Stars consume themselves, the universe itself rushes apart, and we ourselves are composed of matter in constant flux. Colonies of cells in temporary alliance, replicating and decaying and housed within, an incandescent cloud of electrical impulses. This is reality, this is self knowledge, and the perception of it will, of course, make you dizzy.

The woman he was having an affair with did the pissing off actually.

The woman he had an affair with was sending harrasing-threatening emails to another woman and that woman knew an FBI guy, who got the ball rolling on an investigation. They found out it was the lady Petreus was having an affair with so they then checked him out to confirm it was indeed him. It was an affair he had and ended prior to becoming the CIA chief.

P.S. The woman he had an affair with was his biographer.
