Default Marriage Equality Vote Outcomes 2012

It looks like we might have our first cases of marriage equality being approved by American voters, rather than simply being mandated by certain state courts:

    • Maryland: 84% reporting, marriage equality ahead by 3%.
    • Maine: 40% reporting, marriage equality ahead by 4%.
    • Minnesota: 37% reporting, voting to NOT ban same-sex marriage is ahead by 2.5%
    • Washington: 50% reporting, marriage equality ahead by 3.6%.

This is a pretty big deal. All four initiatives look like they will pass in a way that favors same-sex marriage.

I must say, I'm very happy about this.

Same sex marriage and civil unions are banned in my state. It's appalling.

Clearly the nay-sayers should have set up polling booths in Chic-Fil-A.

In all seriousness, though, this is wonderful news. Can't wait to see the final tally.

As of last tally, with 50% in in Maine, they were 8% up! (to overturn the same-sex marriage ban). I's already been called, officially.

and I just got word that MSNBC called Question 6 (same sex) in Maryland. So that's done too.

Just waiting on Minnesota and Wash state.

Looks to me like MD and Wash state both voted to permit same-sex marriage, with a 4% margin of victory.
Maine voted to overturn the ban with an 8% margin -- pretty decisive.
Minnesota is about tied -- there, they are voting against a same-sex marriage ban. The vote against the ban is winning by 0.1%, with 30% yet to be tallied.

Yup... I think the margins were 6% in Maine, 4% in Wash and Maryland; and the margin was almost 5% in Minnesota to NOT ban gay marriage.

I'm from Minnesota and I voted no on the amendment. I'm happy that the majority voted NO on this.
