Jeez, @Patches, those photos are scary.

And here I was thinking "It wasn't so bad" -- obviously it wasn't so bad for DC (just some cut power lines and felled trees), but I guess it was pretty damn bad closer to shore.

Are you New York folks doing okay?

Yeah. I never expected that kind of damage when the news started spouting warnings a few days ago. It looks like the coast of NJ got it bad (The entire Atlantic City Boardwalk had been ripped apart, entire piers are gone, most of the coastal houses in jersey are destroyed/flooded), Manhattan got flooded real bad, and 80-100 homes burned down in Queens.

Do we know of any TypoCers who are definitely from those areas? ROLE CALL.

In other news, jobs at the Fire Station are now being created.

    I really dig Chris Christie.

“He gave me his number at the White House and told me to call him if I needed anything,” (Christie said that in regard to Obama.)

The problem was too much emphasis was put on the Cat 1 winds and not on the surge that was the real danger. It was just bad timing that the storm came ashore during high tide on a full moon (4 foot tide + 9 foot surge), and at an angle that caused the most water to go toward the NY/NJ area. Now the worry is what happens when all those snow dumped in West Virginia melts...

jenocyde's in Brooklyn, and Eric B up there too, but I don't know where that is in relation.

I have friends in various parts of Jersey, but none on the forum.

I'm puzzled why it's called Hurricane Sandy. It looks pretty watery to me.
