Know what else is funny? The unions refused to deal with Hostess and the bankruptcy judge and take a paycut so that the company could continue LIVING. But instead, the parasitic union thugs stuck to their host, determined to suck it dry. And guess what, the host-ess DIED! Along with some 18,000 jobs. And here's the real kicker: The white house has a petition up to bail out/nationalize hostess and save the twinkies. UNIONS FTW!

Well to be fair to them, the current CEO has seen an 300% increase in his salary while most of these guys have seen paycuts even through hard times.. I mean, for a lack of a good job, the CEO sure was given quite a lot of money before saying that the company will just go bankrupt.

Hostess has been a sinking ship for years. They've gone through several CEOs in the last several years. That's always a bad sign. On top of that, they had a labor negotiation in the past where Hostess threatened that if the union didn't give in, the company would go bankrupt. The union didn't give in and the company didn't go bankrupt. Here's the thing, unions don't believe the sob stories given by ownership because they're lies 99.9% of the time.

If the White House bails out Hostess, that would be idiotic. This is a horribly run company. And it's not like Twinkies would disappear from the earth. The brand still has value. Hostess will sell the name and recipe.
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

Oh no doubt, the company was run idiotically, and in the end the ruin of this company was poor management, not necessarily the unions. The unions were just the straw that broke the decrepit camel's back. But unions take on this all or nothing "give me more" mentality so often, especially the almighty teamsters union. California, for instance, is being plunged into the bathtub with its head under water by the unions who demand more and more money to come into their pensions. My point is that they can be unreasonable as all heck, and really do truly operate like parasites at times, with no regard for the company's, the public's, or the EMPLOYEE'S best interest.
