Default Over-the-counter STD testing will soon be available

Well, this makes me feel a lot safer. A company called, "Orasure" is now putting over-the-counter aids tests on the market. They are also working on a Hep C test as well....

I don't know, that sounds pretty convenient. It might encourage teenagers to have sex. We should ban it preemptively.

As long as they take it at the best possible time between partners, otherwise they could get a false negative.

Not so sure about that but I do think it could be something which leads to an increase in the spread of STDs rather than its decline, same way contraception was supposed to lead to lots of no consequences sex fun and instead resulted in a shit load of negative consequences and unplanned pregnancies.

I just think that general health advice and learning should be better, including on STDs as much as anything else.

I was being sarcastic, and the impression of birth control you just expressed is exactly what I was being sarcastic about.

Remember when airbags were invented and everyone started crashing their cars more? I don't.

I dont remember that either, what does that mean?

I'm not sure what you're being sarcastic about, this could be a good thing but I'm not sure it will be. I think that attitudes to sex have been infantilised and the marketing, advertising and style of contraceptive production has had a hand in that, that's not the same a condemning sex per se if that's what you think I'm doing.

I read lots of very old books, some of them on planned parenthood, even books by the woman who launched that movement in the US, they're all incredible because we're living in the predicted or prophesised tommorrows of those authors, their hopes have come to naught and its a crying shame. Their hopes were good. I'm interested in why they came to naught and changing that. Continuing in the same stead as many of them, as though there is not a totally changed context, is only heaping error, upon error and ignoring results.

Yes, and the owner of the company even stated that as well.

Yeah, I know. It makes me feel a lot safer. Personally, I hope they make one to test for HPV and herpes because those are the STD's those are the most common std's out there, and the ones that I fear getting the most.
