I wouldn't place a political bias on this article. That is not the intent.
It serves its function. If it initially offends you on any level--GOOD. That is the point.

9/11 was an event so horrific that it should have shaken us out of our slumber.
Instead, we got up, grabbed a quick midnight snack and never woke up again.

    It is excellent satire.

What if that had been the US government's way of thinking and operating during the 1990s?
Why have we not seen foreign acts of terrorism until the 2000s? Is it because we killed them all?

Terrorism was alive and well in the 1980s and 1990s.

Terrorism was alive before that. It'll continue to live, even if Al Qeada were wiped out. It's a tactic. You can't wipe that out. As David Cross put it, having a War on Terror is like having a War on Jealousy.

Do you see a correspondence between US presidential election years and an increase in terrorism after 2000? The graph also shows that famous lull in the years just before 2001. Maybe it's not famous to you but I remember it.

Nah, I think the spikes shortly after 1992 (Clinton) and 2000 (Bush Jr.) were just coincidences.

There's a lot of information that graph doesn't capture and I kind of regret posting it. Most of those attacks were Palestinians attacking Israel. Plus those are just the ones reported on Wikipedia, which naturally would be biased toward dates after Wikipedia's founding (in 2001).

Still, though, you have to give some cred to the notion that Western foreign policy is a motivation for terrorism.
