    Default Perseid Meteor Shower

Is anyone planning on watching the meteor shower tonight or tomorrow night? I'm currently scheming to get away from the city lights later this evening so that I can see the show.

Could probably look at it tonight, since that is when it is peaking.

Nothing will compare to the 2001 Leonid Meteor Storm that I saw though

    Too cloudy here.

If I'm up later, I'll check again.

Saw some! My wife and I woke up at 3AM and checked it out. Thin cloud cover probably messed up some of the opportunities but we still saw 5 or 6 blips and at least 2 good streaks.
Learned something else--the light pollution in this neighborhood is awful! Totally intentional though as I understand it, everyone has dusk-activated lamps mandated by the local HOA.

Glad you got to see some. City ambiance sucks. I probably will never relive the experience five years ago, in pitch black rural pa, where i was seeing 1-2 a minute, maybe more. It was crazy beautiful.

Tough luck! I just kept driving until the clouds were gone. Didn't end up seeing too many, though, due to light pollution being insane. One of these days I have to make it a legit venture and go somewhere faaaar from city lights... and hope no clouds come!!

I was out at 12.45am this morning scanning the sky to no avail. Considered driving to a remote spot to view it later tonight but sky is overcast at present. Would be a cool experience though.

That is cool. I remember one time, when I was a kid, lying in the middle of this backcountry road with my parents and cousins, we were in upstate rural NY and the shower was falling all over the sky. Like you say, maybe never again.
