"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

Fully automatic weapons, short barreled rifles or shotguns, suppressors and calibers over .50 are currently illegal.

All weapons more powerful than that are illegal as well.

There's gonna be stuff on both sides of the line no matter where we put it.

Decrying .50 cal as if it's a huge weapon of mass destruction is rather lulz worthy to me. I suppose though that some people don't get the fact weapon choice is not all just about size and power.

It's not about being some kind of cave man who drools over subsequently larger cartridges until we end up with a bullet the size of one's fist. If it were like that, more people would choose .700 Nitro or .950 JDJ.

.50 caliber is not the biggest nor the most powerful rifle bullet.

If you know how to get a class III license and/or a destructive device license you can get around some of the bans.

This is why we don't run around with huge guns. They aren't practical.

As for artillery, yeah you can get it with the right paper work and connections. Some people have mortars, some people have tanks, some people have mini guns. A few rich mofos have their own fighter jets, too.

Australia provides an anti-environment in which the invisible American environment becomes visible.

And the invisible American environment is invisible to Americans, just as water is invisible to fish.

The US has unambiguously the highest rate of private gun ownership in the world. You all do know that's not actually gun control, right? Normal people call that gun proliferation or gun distribution. And since you do have that constitutional right to bear arms, the proper discussion is indeed not how to control arms, but how to adequately distribute them. After all, if you plan on handing control of the arms, literally, over to the populace, how are you meaningfully retaining control at the center?

    Good luck.

Which process do you think is the more substantial in the US: that of gun distribution or that of gun control? If there's more distribution than control, then surely you should at least be trying to make the distribution more even, right?
