    Default Where do you get your news?

    A thread like this may already exist. I didn't bother to search much, but here it is anyways. For those of you who actually read/watch/listen to to the news, where do you get it from?

    For me:
    1. The Economist
    2. Der Spiegel
    3. Al Jazeera
    4. BBC

    I need some U.S. sources I guess...

    Yahoo News. I'm obviously not a serious news junkie.
    “There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

    BBC (online)
    sciencedaily.com
    Counterpunch (but I am only a sporadic reader)
    Z Magazine (Chomsky regularly writes for them; it's the most respected "underground" style of mazagine)

    Conspiracy theorists and die hard media fanatics.

    I imagine the truth lies somewhere in between.

    Amalgamation of sources, really. From AFP, Reuters, BBC. local and regional news. Business sections are important for me.

    Meta, how do you get Al jazeera?

    interesting factoid: if you search 'terrorism' in english in google, you get counterterrorism websites. if you search it in arabic, you get the link to terror websites. (Ne tangential link: because Al jazeera is somewhat linked to terror groups.)
    You gave me hyacinths first a year ago;
    They called me the hyacinth girl.
    Yet when we came back, late, from the Hyacinth garden,
    Your arms full, and your hair wet, I could not
    Speak, and my eyes failed, I was neither
    Living nor dead, and I knew nothing,
    Looking into the heart of light, the silence.

    ABC = Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

    Like Anonymous, I also use the BBC for a lot of my news.

    Other sources include The Economist, and two Australian newspapers: The Sydney Morning Herald and The Australian.

    2. Rumors from my mother and other people I may converse with.

    6. CNN

    I don't really pay a lot of attention to the news, except when other people talk about it.

    However, I do study history regularly.

    Depends on what I'm hunting. Typically, C-SPAN, BBC, Google, Scientific American and local sources.

    If I'm keeping abreast of the Red Wings (and hockey in general), I use the Detroit Free Press, my local insiders and my vast network of Canadians.
