    Default Slavery in the UK

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...herts-17755278

Well, it seems like slavery is back, it never really went away for women, and possibly children, if people trafficking and kidnapping are any guide but this is a little broader.

Its funny because I'd thought about writing a horror story for some time which would depict something like what actually happened in this case.

It's a shame the UK no longer has capital punishment. This is one case where it is definitely deserved.
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

I can think of more than this which would be more deserving.

Some crazy bitch stabbed a thirteen year old girl to death in a totally unprovoked attack and sat down to await arrest recently, the child rang her parents as she bled to death to tell them she loved them and was sorry she wouldnt see them again, or so I heard reported, that child had courage of a kind I dont know I would have. I imagine I'd be balling my eyes out and pleeding with God for my life to last longer and I'm twenty years older than that child.

Personally I'd favour a Judge Dredd style criminal justice system in which the law would just turn up assess that sort of situation and vaporise the crazy bitch.

I also think that among the best writing about the decline of slavery in Europe was that of Hilaire Belloc and the distributivists, they had funny ideas summed up in the slogan "three acres and a cow" about everyone having a share in proprietorship rather than capitalist or socialist patterns of ownership, but Belloc made the point that the cultural changes preceeded everything else.

If its this sort of enslavement isnt abhorrent or abnormal its only because its a reflection of other norms and values becoming popular, I blame thatcherism and dehumanisation.
