So last night I am sitting in a car at a stop light in West Hollywood and there are fireworks in the sky clearly in front of me, and I look over to the car to my right, and the young woman in the driver's seat is smoking one of those skinny Capri cigarettes and I could visibly see the sheer delight she felt in that moment, seeing the fireworks. It was epic.

    Fuck yeah.

Around here personal fireworks were banned because it was too dry, and it was like 100 degrees with high humidity last night. We basically just stayed in our house and watched fireworks from here, but I really wish we had been able to go see them up close.
I've had sporadic fireworks for the past week, and on the 3rd my next door neighbor decided to put off fireworks essentially behind the wall BY MY HEAD. It was so loud I physically jumped both times even though I knew it was coming again.

I went back in the house. However, I enjoyed seeing the fireworks in the sky on the 4th, as they were not beside my head.

We can just add that to the heap of Russian things I don't want to imitate.

People have too much mythology, not too little.

    That's not very nice.

One of the reasons why I am so fascinated by European countries is because I think sometimes I envy their un-self-conscious self-love.

And YES THEY DO. The French, the English, the Germans, the Russians...why can't we?
    I try to everyday Marm.

    I try to everyday.

Yeah, I know. Tis is why life is complex. Abstract issues are usually deeply emotional
For all that we have done, as a civilization, as individuals, the universe is not stable, and nor is any single thing within it. Stars consume themselves, the universe itself rushes apart, and we ourselves are composed of matter in constant flux. Colonies of cells in temporary alliance, replicating and decaying and housed within, an incandescent cloud of electrical impulses. This is reality, this is self knowledge, and the perception of it will, of course, make you dizzy.

I think that guy is reading my facebook homepage! Perhaps he should change the term "American Exceptionalism" to "Copy and Pasteism"
