I do struggle to understand its appeal (or the appeal of games in general, which quickly bore me senseless), nevertheless there are people out there who value their "second life" more than their primary one. Which is sad, and symptomatic of the same thing covered in the OP; the same reality disconnect.
My ESFJ mother repeats the exact same thing on a daily basis. Although not at me....merely to the world.

These statements are true...for some people, but not for many. It's interesting here how much your opinion mirrors that of general society.

Suppose a tree fell down, Pooh, when we were underneath it?"
"Suppose it didn't," said Pooh, after careful thought.
    Piglet was comforted by this.

Games, like all forms of play, are practice for the real thing. If you never put those skills into practice, what's the point of acquiring them
I'm not going to defend what I know about "real things". Have I given you an indication I'm some underground dwelling infantile? You do know that SPs all generally learn in a bottom-up, hands-on type of way, right? Although at my age, I'm not limited to it anymore. I like this about my older self. More things can be projected or simulated.

Acquiring skills are their own reward btw. It's fun. I don't learn things to meet some overall goal or be a success somewhere. This goes for any form of "play" and skill learning. I've played music (mostly guitars) for over 20 years. In all that time, I probably only had a few fleeting moments of having some overarching "goal" about it.

If you want to put away "childish things", to each their own. That's cool. This is where our real disagreement is though. You think I have to put away childish things too. Or rather, "guys" do. As if we're all automatically on some market, and you're entitled to tell us to make a behavioral adjustment. It's like being told I'm not good enough for a job that I never even applied for.

...Who the fuck plays Mortal Kombat nowadays? Seriously? You're worse than those assholes from the NRA who blamed Duke Nukem for the elementary school massacre in Connecticut.

Get with the times, fuckos. You're embarrassing yourselves once again.

If you don't like these people, don't bother with them. They're not hurting anybody. Are the basement-dwelling video gaming nerds comparable with drunken, machismo-fueled, tribal tatted douchebags who hang out at shitty sports bars with their "bros" and start trouble due to incompetence and male insecurity? Because I don't think they are.

Those motherfuckers are responsible for the TRUE decline of the modern male.

That looks like a hell of an emotional abreaction to something going on right there. That is all.

I hate skinny jeans, not because of the association with bisexuality but because of the association with skinny. OK probably the association with bisexuality too.

That did sound like a massive amount of time spent viewing pornography, even if some kind of freudian analysis of regular imagery or advertising or whatever was employed to explain it.
